Sacha Tarter and Trevor Sather star in this fictional portrait of male escorts doing the rounds in London's swanky West End. Adopting their own names here, the pair cater to the needs of mature but lonely ladies - portrayed by such luminaries of the British stage and screen as Susannah York, Anna Massey and Sian Phillips. It's a fine line between comedy and tragedy as Sacha gradually becomes more emotionally needy than his clients, but director Richard Bracewell's film (co-written with the two lead actors) slips into a void somewhere in between. The story is neither funny nor dramatic, meandering for a long time in loosely connected episodes before anything of real significance happens. Trevor, whose role initially is to cater to Sacha's every need, is left on the sidelines, which is a shame since he possesses more charisma as the goofy sidekick than Tarter, who just mooches around trying to look sexy and mysterious.
