The director used the fate of her friend Bilja as a role model of a generation of young people who spent their teenage days in the war-torn Sarajevo. In 1992, Bilja was severely wounded during one shelling. She lost her arm and a French photographer was making pictures of her while she was bleeding in the street, helpless. He did not help her.
