Nakon ranjavanja i oporavka, vojno-obavještajni put vodi ga u Latinsku Ameriku, gdje će upoznati prvu suprugu, lijepu Kolumbijku Ximenu. Za vrijeme putovanja u Argentinu susreće se s hrvatskim iseljenicima i doznaje za proglašenje hrvatske samostalnosti, ali i za prve ratne sukobe u domovini.
