When the remains of a teenager are found half-buried in a wood, Vera finds herself investigating a 30-year-old mystery. Identified as Carrie Telling, a girl who disappeared during the 1984 miners' strike, the team retrieves news footage from the protests that shows her taking pictures in the background. It appears she got caught up in the unrest that day, contradicting her father's assertion that she went straight home. Photographs recovered from her camera yield further revelations for Vera. What did Carrie discover that ultimately led to her death?
