Wind is as much a part of a landscape as is the flora, the fauna, the relief, the rivers are… It’s an element that a region’s inhabitants consider to be both immaterial and omnipresent. How can we use wind in a modern construction? How can we harness its energy? And and the same time how can we protect ourselves against it? In Brazil, the architecture of this holiday home controls the wind so well that inside the temperature is always cool and pleasant, even without air-conditioning. On the Isle of Samso the inhabitants know how to protect themselves from the wind that has blown across their land for longer than anybody can remember. And, thanks to its wind turbines this region of Denmark is self-sufficient in energy. In Patagonia, at the very south of Chile, the travellers that have ventured this far are lodged in very light accommodation whose impact on the landscape is minimal, but whose wind resistance is very efficient.
