Fatherless son Tom is angry and rebellious. Mother Ariane is a remorseful yet nurturing and loving mother. Destiny one finds is not kind to these two. Over the course of the film can they overcome the obstacles before them? Will they overcome themselves? Subplots involve worthy characters excellently played that enhance the drama. Juvenile court, hospital, reform school, dock workers, and suburban life are backdrop scenes for the drama.
