The story of the 1500m and the most famous athletes to have gone for gold in the middle-distance track event, including Great Britain's trio of Sebastian Coe, Steve Ovett and Steve Cram, who all competed in the Los Angeles Olympics of 1984. The programme reveals that although the race is run on the track, it is won on punishing training runs in natural landscapes, from the forests of Finland to the high-altitude terrains of Kenya and Morocco. Contributors include some of the greatest Olympians ever to run the event, including Kip Keino, Herb Elliot, Peter Snell, current world record holder Hicham El Guerrouj and the aforementioned Lord Coe.
