Wojciech Sekula lives with his son Tomasz and his wife Jenny on a farm in Zimowe Pole near the Oder. Jenny is unhappy in the small Polish village and would like to start over with her husband and stepson in Germany, where she comes from. But her husband is not enthusiastic about the idea. One night all of the family's cows are brutally killed. Children find a severed finger on the field. And shortly afterwards Wojciech dies after another attack on his farm. How does it all fit together? Who hates the Sekula family so much that they'll walk over corpses? Commissioners Olga Lenski and Adam Raczek begin their investigations. The elder brother of the dead man, Andrzej Sekula, who was disinherited from his father as the owner of the farm, comes under suspicion. The role of Mayor Roland von Seedow-Winterfeld is also unclear. As it turns out, he is an old friend of Olga Lenski.
