Stasi: A State Against Its People

SINOPSIS

After the Wall fell on November 9, 1989, the shredders in the GDR Ministry for State Security ran at full speed. For 40 years, its own citizens were spied on, arrested and manipulated in order to secure the Communist Party's power. It was only after the authority was dissolved on June 30, 1990 that the way was clear for a reappraisal: it will take years and decades. In the documentary, both victims and perpetrators of the surveillance system have their say and describe their experiences.
