SYNOPSIS

This remake of the 1957 Rod Steiger thriller Across the Bridge from writer/director George Gallo leaves little taste of the original, which was based on a Graham Greene short story. Comedy matters as much as suspense, as banker Orlando Jones heads to Mexico to clear his name, only to find himself in even deeper trouble after he swaps identities with a jive-talking hustler (Eddie Griffin) who knows more than he should. The byplay between Jones and Griffin fitfully amuses. But, considering Gallo also wrote Midnight Run and Bad Boys, this is a disappointing venture.
