SYNOPSIS

This British "gangster" drama may cover familiar territory, but it does boast good performances and some moments of genuine screen power. In a grotty London district middle-class Tom (Steven Mackintosh) negotiates with crack addict D (Ashley Walters) to buy a gun. The weapon turns out to have been stolen from local dealer Hoodwink (Andy Serkis) and he wants his property back because it links him to a murder. There's some overacting - and a lot of shouting - in this overwrought three-hander, but the chief offender is the bald and bullish Serkis. Subtle he isn't. And be warned: the actor who provided the movements (via motion capture technology) for Gollum in the Lord of The Rings trilogy and the great ape in King Kong reveals rather more of himself here than is strictly necessary.
