SYNOPSIS

Tisućama godina Nil je oblikovao sudbinu Egipta. Njegov visoki vodostaj svake bi godine poplavio zemlju, koja bi zbog nanosa riječnog blata bila plodnija. Tek je izgradnja Asuanske brane ukrotila rijeku, ali i poljima oduzela prirodno gnojivo od riječnoga mulja. Senab je švelja koja se maštom i kreativnošću bori protiv stigme samohrane majke. Postala je uzor ženama u nevolji koje inače ne bi imale izgleda za preživljavanje. Umjetnik Gamal u svojim naivnim slikama čuva kulturu Nubijaca, koji su nekoć bili raseljeni zbog izgradnje brane. Lončarske radionice u Nakadi već 5000 godina rade isti proizvod od blata iz Nila. Potražnja je velika, jer posebni vrčevi za vodu od gline ne mogu se zamijeniti plastičnima. Koptski tkalci, s druge strane, vrlo teško pronalaze kupce za svoje ručno izrađene tkanine, jer istisnula ih je jeftinija strojna konkurencija. Vlasnik preše za šećernu trsku pronašao je marketinšku nišu za svoj tradicionalni proizvod. Nudi ga kao potpuno prirodni lijek s oznakom ekološkog proizvoda. Ipak, posvuda na velikoj rijeci ugrožene su osnove za život zbog izostanka financijski potkovanijih turista i bezobzirnog ophođenja s prirodom.
