SYNOPSIS

According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization a third of all food produced worldwide is thrown away. In Europe, this is equivalent to 89 tons of groceries per year. How can we stop this waste? Author and cook David Gross conducts a road trip through Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France, cooking exclusively what others throw in the garbage. Easy to spot by his trademark, a mobile stove rebuilt from a dumpster, and his wastemobile which runs exclusively on used cooking oil. Along his way, David Gross meets unconventional top chefs, dedicated food activists, scientists and gourmets. With a great thirst for knowledge, he investigates the causes of food waste and unearths both surprising connections and unexpected solutions. With a healthy dose of humor, David Groß undertakes a road trip trough Europe that calls our everyday consumer lifestyle into question.
