Great American Railroad Journeys: Philadelphia to Atlantic City

SYNOPSIS

Michael Portillo travels south from the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, stopping off to run past the city's famous landmarks in homage to Rocky Balboa. At Pennsylvania University, he tackles the football team under the instruction of its fearsome coach, and discovers how liberty was proclaimed throughout the land in 1776, yet millions remained enslaved. He then reflects on the 19th century `Pennsylvania System' of incarceration at the Eastern State Penitentiary, before heading to the gambling resort of Atlantic City.
