SYNOPSIS

New series. Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins present as 12 enthusiastic bakers take part in a contest to determine which of them is Britain's best amateur, facing three challenges a week devised by judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. To begin with, they tackle an upside down cake, before following Paul's recipe for rum babas, a hybrid of cake and enriched dough that baffles some of the competitors. Finally, they are tasked to produce a show-stopping cake that reveals a hidden design when sliced into. Who will be first to leave?
