SYNOPSIS

Laura begins to settle into her new role at the Post Office. However, the peace is soon disturbed when Mrs Macey learns that her convict husband has escaped from prison - an event that sets the village gossips' tongues to work. Meanwhile in Lark Rise, Laura's father tries to help Caroline Arless through a court hearing when she faces incarceration in debtors' prison. Dawn French, Olivia Hallinan and Liz Smith star.
