London, 1962. Six-year-old Ruthie loves to play with the family housekeeper, Lynn. But, over the course of two days their friendship starts to fall apart when Ruthie, scared by a dark tale from her German-born mother's past, begins to suspect Lynn of theft. GANEF (Yiddish for "thief") subtly portrays the long-lasting and devastating impact of inherited trauma.
