The series begins by looking back at Clinton's successful 1992 presidential election campaign, which saw him unseat incumbent Republican George Bush, though he and wife Hillary had to endure a barrage of allegations about their private lives. Things got little easier once his term in office began, as civil wars in the African nations of Somalia and Rwanda placed a strain on America's foreign policy - while his political rivals began to gain momentum.
