Laurina prijateljica iz otroštva Jane Canfield se vrne v Walnut Grove. Čeprav je slepa, čuti naklonjenost do Isaiaha Edwardsa (ki je star še enkrat toliko kot ona), sčasoma pa naklonjenost preraste v ljubezen. Po operaciji se Jane vrne vid in Isaiah upa, da bosta začela graditi skupno prihodnost. Zaradi negativnega odnosa njegovih prijateljev pa bo to morda ena najtežjih odločitev njegovega življenja.
