Young Patricia Aguilar disappears, leaving her family devastated. Weeks of anguish ensue until they regain hope when Patricia shows signs of life, but she speaks and acts strangely, as if controlled by someone else. They soon discover that she has gone to Peru, seduced by the guru of a sect, and begin the struggle to get her back, even though Patricia resists.
