Gegen Jacks Rat klettern Kate und Locke in die Luke. Als Jack ihnen folgt, wird er von einem Mann mit einer Pistole bedroht, den er aus seiner Vergangenheit kennt. In einer Rückblende erfährt man mehr über Jacks Wandlung vom Mann der Wissenschaft zum Mann des Glaubens. Währenddessen hat Shannon eine Furcht erregende Begegnung mit Walt, der auf dem Ozean von „den anderen“ entführt wurde.
