Lothar is in despair: each year in December he has no choice but to surrender to his wife's over-exaggerated Christmas craze. In a stiff competition, Margot obsesses over beating her next-door neighbour to the title of the most beautifully decorated house in town. Faced with Margot's unforgiving fighting spirit, Lothar has resigned to the fact that his beloved semi-detached house is turned into an out-of-this-world spectacle of lights every year. But this time the urge of resistance rises up in him and Margot herself offers him an unexpected way out.
