Gladiatress

The ladies from TV's Smack the Pony reteam for this Carry On-style romp set in ancient times. Celtic princesses Worthaboutapig (Sally Phillips) and Smirgut (Fiona Allen) cross the Channel to rescue their sister (Doon Mackichan) after she's kidnapped by Romans. The production values are decent and there's some smart acting, but the jokes are as Iron Age as the setting. Gladiatress hits the occasional comic high, but more often plumbs excruciating comic lows, making this one best enjoyed with a bunch of rowdy pals.
