The story, which takes place in the third series of the series Samozvanci , took place between 1774 and 1775, eight years before the events in the finale of the previous series... It is the year 1774. The reign of Empress Catherine the Great is threatened. The Russo-Turkish war continues, plundering the tsar's coffers. A large crowd of claimants to the throne appears. Stability in the country is threatened by a massive Cossack-peasant uprising, led by the poor Cossack Yemeljan Pugačov, who declares himself the dethroned Tsar Peter III. The threat also attacks from within the palace with the initiative to hand over the throne to Katarina's eldest son Pavol. The personal life of Catherine the Great is also collapsing, as she loses hope of conceiving a child with Prince Potemkin and is therefore looking for new love interests. However, the greatest love for the empress is the Russian Empire itself. Catherine will face decisions that will determine the future fate of her reign and the entire empire.
