As opening night rapidly approaches, Rachel is finding it hard juggling the increasingly demanding rehearsal schedule with her college workload - and when she ends up on the wrong side of headmistress Carmen Tibideaux, she is forced to choose between her career and her education. Sam and Mercedes also have some decisions to make as they come close to rekindling their high-school romance, while Mercedes' friends have a few words of warning for the singer, concerned that her relationship with Sam could damage her burgeoning music career. Whoopi Goldberg guest stars in an episode featuring the music of Stephen Sondheim.
