The musical drama returns after a six-month hiatus. Santana becomes depressed by her lack of acting work, so Rachel gets her a job as a back-up model in a photoshoot. However, her kindness backfires in spectacular fashion when her room-mate auditions to become her understudy on Broadway, leading to a battle of the divas. Kurt worries about Elliot taking control of their band, while back in Lima, graduation day looms, with Principal Sue coming up with a novel way of determining who will be top of the class between Artie and Tina.
