When the police chief inspector Elisabeth "Bessie" Eyckhoff went in search of the runaway cat of a lonely old lady named Johanna Schrödinger, she had no inkling that this cat of all things would be the key to solving a fatal hit-and-run accident. Is there a mysterious power of chance? "Bessie" Eyckhoff, the young policewoman who is sometimes underestimated by her colleagues, is ready to abandon the usual thought patterns and thus gets on the track.
