Lothar is in despair: each year in December he has no choice but to surrender to his wife's over-exaggerated Christmas craze. In a stiff competition, Margot obsesses over beating her next-door neighbour to the title of the most beautifully decorated house in town. Faced with Margot's unforgiving fighting spirit, Lothar has resigned to the fact that his beloved semi-detached house is turned into an out-of-this-world spectacle of lights every year. But this time the urge of resistance rises up in him and Margot herself offers him an unexpected way out. After 30 years of soaring electricity bills, over-sized Santas and tinsel entanglements, Lothar might just have found the redemption he had been looking for for so long.
