Langs de Rijn

Martin Hendriksma and Huub Stapel make a trip together along the river Rhine. They start at the source in the Swiss Alps. Then Huub and Martin travel further along the Rhine to Hoek van Holland where it flows into the North Sea. Along the way they encounter all sorts of stories and facts about the lifeline of Europe. For centuries the course of the Rhine has determined our economy, our culture and our identity. But what does 'father Rhine' still have to tell us today? Huub and Martin also meet all kinds of people who really have the Rhine water flowing through their blood, such as inhabitants and boatmen.
