French-born chef Raymond Blanc is one of Britain's most respected chefs. The self-taught chef owns a hotel-restaurant in Oxfordshire, England, that has two Michelin stars. In this series, he travels around France to show viewers the country in which he grew up and to showcase the French recipes that inspired him. In each episode, Blanc explores the distinctive produce and cuisine of a particular region of France, from well-known regions like Burgundy to lesser-known areas, such as his home region of Franche Comté, where his parents still live. In each episode, he also works with his young British proteges to prepare a menu of traditional dishes at a local restaurant for one night only.
