What do an FBI Special Agent, a disabled woman, and a heroin addict have in common?
They’re all going to save the world, in the new sci-fi TV series Travelers.
Sci-fi TV series Travelers is only a couple episodes deep now, so it’s a good time to tune in!
In Travelers, a new sci-fi series created and written by Brad Wright, (Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate: Universe) set hundreds of years in the future, scientists have unlocked the concept of time travel, but not as we know it. They are able to send individual consciousness’s back in time, straight into another person’s body. These consciousness’s, or “travelers,” are sent into a seemingly random collection of people who work together in secret to save humanity and prevent the horrible future they were sent from. The travelers are sent back with little to no knowledge, relying mainly on social media and history books to determine their targets and goals, and figure out how to save humanity.
Who are the Travelers?
The motley crew of time travelers is led by FBI Special Agent Grant MacLaren played by Eric McCormack (The Andromeda Strain, Highlander, Will & Grace), and is composed of Marcy (Canadian actress MacKenzie Porter), a disabled woman in the care of her social worker, David (Patrick Gilmore, Cabin in the Woods, 2012), a high school football player named Trevor (Jared Abrahamson: Fear the Walking Dead), Carly (Nesta Cooper: Heroes Reborn, The 100), a single mom in an abusive relationship, and a heroin-addicted student, Philip (Reilly Dolman: Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief). The already star-studded cast will also be complemented by Arnold Pinnock (The Incredible Hulk, Lars and the Real Girl), Dylan Playfair, J. Alex Brinson (iZombie, Supernatural, X-Files), and last but not least, Ian Tracey (Man of Steel, Sucker Punch, and many, many others).
Oh, Canada!
This Canadian-powered cast is in good hands, too. The writers and directors (including Nick Hurran, Helen Shaver, Martin Wood, and more) have experience with fantastic, highly-rated shows such as Sherlock and Vikings, as well as fun sci-fi shows like Killjoys and Continuum.  The whole show has been acquired by Netflix, except for in Canada, where the show started airing recently on Showcase. For the rest of us, Netflix revealed in a suitably cryptic teaser that the show will be available outside of Canade on December 23rd, 2016.
