McGarrett thwarts a spectacular robbery of a military pay office (after being tipped off by the perpetrator!) only to discover it's a ruse for a bigger crime: the kidnapping of a cryptologist, who's vital to national security and will only be returned after payment of a million dollars in diamonds. There's more than Five-O looking for the man who is the behind the scheme. One of the patsies who was shot during the staged robbery escapes from the hospital and is out looking for revenge.
