10 Years with Hayao Miyazaki, also known as Hayao Miyazaki: 10 Years with the Master, is a four-part documentary directed and produced by Kaku Arakawa for NHK and was released in February 2019. The film is an exclusive behind the scenes look at the creative process of Hayao Miyazaki as seen through the production of Ponyo and The Wind Rises, as well as two films directed by Miyazaki's son Goro, the Ursula K. LeGuin adaptation Tales from Earthsea and the 1960s boarding school-set From Up on Poppy Hill. Miyazaki is described by NHK as a "passionate artisan, a steadfast trailblazer, and a father butting heads with his son." Part of the footage from the Ponyo episode is taken from a much longer 12-hour documentary, Ponyo was born in this way. ~ Hayao Miyazaki's Thinking Process ~. The episode covering The Wind Rises overlaps with some the events seen in the 2013 documentary, Never-Ending Man: Hayao Miyazaki.
