Mencia wins the pulse that holds against the pirate Bonpere and he agrees not to touch her ladies. Of course, they will not get rid of the looting. However, the pirates turn a deaf ear to their captain and after several jugs of wine they try to abuse Maria. Mencía prefers to die to dishonor her daughter and is determined that both ships fly through the air if necessary. Salazar is proud along with the crew of Mencía's courage and ingenuity. However, now they will have to face a colossal obstacle: to cross the ocean without navigational instruments, since the pirates destroyed everything. For several months, they remain on the African coast repairing the ship. While the sailors perform the reconstruction tasks, the maidens are entertained as they can. After correcting the damage, the expedition starts up again. Two months after leaving, they continue without sighting land. The lack of fresh food and, therefore, of vitamins makes a dent in the crew and many fall ill due to scurvy. The deceased are increasing and no longer have sacks to shroud the bodies. The sadness makes Mencía reconsider, who finds comfort in the Captain. A few days later, they arrive on land. Happiness invades everyone except Mencía.
