UPDATE: The Inhumans Gain an Iron Fisted Killer as Their Showrunner

mardi 15 novembre 2016 16:00

The first two episodes of the Inhumans TV series will debut in IMAX theaters in Summer 2017, before heading to ABC in September.
ABC and Marvel have found the showrunner for their upcoming Inhumans TV series, and the lucky human is Scott Buck. For those who aren’t familiar with the name, you’ll definitely know his work. Buck previously served as the showrunner for the final three seasons of Showtime’s Dexter and is currently already working with Marvel as the showrunner for Netflix Iron Fist series.
This is the third Marvel series for ABC following the currently running Agents of SHIELD and the two season Agent Carter.
Original Post 11-15-16: Marvel and ABC Are Bringing You the Inhumans TV Series Next Year!
A while back, Marvel abandoned plans for an Inhumans feature film, but they didn’t give up the fight to bring the story to the screen. And now, according to THR, they are now planning an Inhumans TV series with ABC. And, fittingly, they will still actually be presenting the series on the big (very big) screen first. The series, which is set for an eight-episode run on ABC starting in September of 2017, will show the first two episodes exclusively in IMAX format for two weeks during the summer, before moving to ABC to rebroadcast the two episodes, followed by six additional new episodes. According to sources, in addition to not being related to the previous movie project, this series is also not a spin-off from ABC’s Agents of SHIELD, where other Inhumans have played a role.
So What Will The Inhumans TV Series Be About?
Apparently, this series will be exploring “the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family.” Other than that, additional plot details, and possible casting or creative related news isn’t being shared.
More Details on the IMAX Participation
Interestingly, not only will the series debut first in IMAX theaters, the first time a TV series has debuted in this fashion, IMAX is helping finance the pilot, and the Inhumans TV series will reportedly be filmed completely with IMAX cameras. Ben Sherwood, the Co-Chairman of Disney Media Networks and President of Disney / ABC Television Group said that the alliance represents a bold approach to launching great TV content, and that it further “highlights Disney/ABC’s unrelenting commitment to finding new and creative ways to showcasing our very best programming and increasing global engagement and reach.”
As a final note, according to Deadline, when the first two episodes run on TV, they will “feature some additional content not included in the two hours exhibited in theaters.” Also, it’s not clear yet whether this will be merely an eight-episode first season or an eight episode mini-series. With 2017 shaping up to be a pretty big superhero year, who’s looking forward to the Inhumans TV series the most?
