SYNOPSIS

Richard Fortey investigates the development of species on Madagascar, an ancient island that has spawned some of the most extraordinary groups of plants and animals anywhere in the world. The palaeontologist uncovers the secrets of the evolution of creatures including indri lemurs, toxic frogs and cat-like giant mongooses called fossa, as well as oddities like the giraffe-necked weevil and the aye-aye.
