SYNOPSIS

New series. Andrew Davies' adaptation of Tolstoy's epic story of five aristocratic families experiencing Napoleon's invasion of Russia. Paul Dano stars as Pierre Bezukhov, an educated misfit out of place in St Petersburg society, who inherits a fortune as the illegitimate son of a wealthy count. His closest friend, Prince Andrei Bolkonsky (James Norton), is eager for the challenge of war, while sought-after heroine Natasha Rostova is desperate to experience life and love.
