Après être sortie en compagnie de Chandler et Monica, Janine, la petite amie de Joey, lui annonce, contre toute attente, qu'elle trouve ses amis très ennuyeux. Lors d'une confrontation avec Monica et Chandler, Joey décide de rompre avec la jeune femme. Cette perspective ne l'enchante guère, mais il doit choisir entre ses proches et cette nouvelle conquête qui s'avère, en définitive, bien encombrante.
