SYNOPSIS

Street punks have been breaking the law, making it big and learning tough lessons on the way down since Warners Bros unleashed its cycle of iconic gangster movies in the 1930s. This Harlem saga - based on the careers of three criminals from the Reagan era - adds nothing new to the formula, despite giving it a contemporary infusion of rap bravado. However, Wood Harris brings a credible sense of hesitant opportunism to the part of the dry-cleaning deliveryman who begins dealing cocaine for drugs lord Esai Morales and winds up controlling his patch. Sadly, for all its attitude, the scenario is utterly lacking in originality.
