SINOPSIS

A struggling writer (Jason Schwartzman) in Brooklyn decides to emulate his heroes from the classic detective novels. He takes out an ad pretending to be a private detective and starts taking cases -- solving some and making others worse.
Jonathan Ames (Jason Schwartzman), a struggling thirtysomething writer with a drinking problem in Brooklyn, tries to cope with his recent breakup with his girlfriend by reinventing his life. On a whim, Ames decides to emulate his heroes from the novels of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. He takes out an ad pretending to be a private detective and starts taking cases -- solving some and making others worse. The HBO original comedy is based on Jonathan Ames' short story of the same name. The series also stars Ted Danson as George Christopher, Jonathan's magazine editor, and Zach Galifianakis as Ray Hueston, Jonathan's best friend.
