An account of the experiences of Jesse and Olivia Barber, who moved into a ranch-style home between Baltimore in Philadelphia, only for their five-year-old daughter Marie to begin talking to and playing with an unseen `friend'. When Marie's invisible pal appears to begin harming her, the girl's parents struggle to fight back against an enemy they cannot see.
