Steve is unpleasantly surprised when his fickle sister Mary returns, having switched to her umpteenth job, minding wheelchair-veteran Morty Sapperstein, who actually seems to have a romantic interest. Told about Doris's return, she refuses to see their mother. Steve must dash off to the kidnapping of teen Zack Slater, who was taken by men wearing skull masks while his parents drove him home just released from juvenile after time for hacking the White House, but tortured and his corpse abandoned in the stolen van within hours. Danny's hacker acquaintance Adam 'Toast' Charles is wired to confirm and approach the prime suspect, Chinese cyber crime mastermind Kong Liang, who probably failed to press-gang Zach, so Five-O must arrest him. However he points to a different trail, while Kono follows a lead to a cloud cash from Zach's kid brother James, only to be taken hostage with the Slater family by skull men. Morty convinces Mary not to wait till it's too late to make up with close kin.
