Coca-Cola und das Plastikproblem (2022)

OBSAH

The beverage industry produces 470 billion plastic bottles each year, most of which are used only once and then thrown away. Coca-Cola has set itself ambitious goals in a new campaign to avoid plastic bottle pollution. But the company has often failed to meet its own targets for reducing plastic waste. So will it be different this time? This film takes a close look at Coca-Cola's "One World Without Waste" strategy.
In the 1950s, Coca-Cola was sold exclusively in glass bottles, which the company collected, washed and refilled. But then Coca-Cola began replacing reusable bottles with disposable plastic bottles - a trend that continues to this day. Now, Coca-Cola pledges to reduce plastic waste by making its packaging 100 percent recyclable, by 2030 for every bottle or can sold, one will be collected to be recycled - regardless of where it comes from - and to make its bottles from 50 percent recycled plastic.
However, critics argue that this plan, based solely on recycling, will not solve the problem and that refillable bottles are the best solution as they reduce the amount of plastic produced, thus relieving waste systems. Given the urgent need for action to tackle the problem, can the world's largest soft drink maker really turn the tide on plastic waste?
