In the final days WW II with German soldiers abandoning a deportation train to the fate of advancing Russian troops, the chance encounter between German village girl Winnie, Dutch Jew Simone and Russian sniper Vera leads to an unexpected friendship.
In spring 1945, a deportation train with over 2,000 Jewish concentration camp prisoners is stranded in East Germany. The German train drivers flee from the Red Army, which has already occupied the nearby village of Tröbitz. The people on the train are left to fend for themselves and rely on help from the village. But between deep mistrust, despair and a desire for revenge, a friendship unexpectedly develops between the German girl Winnie, the Dutch Jew Simone and the Russian sniper Vera. Inspired by true events, LOST TRANSPORT tells the story of three strong female protagonists who, in the ruins of war, have to break away from their survival strategies, overcome their resentment, anger and mistrust in order to see the others as human beings again and meet them with compassion.
