SINOPSE

One of ecological construction’s first principles concerns integrating the building into its environment: how its architecture can be adapted to the surrounding landscape, by which means can this be achieved… The Dune House in Florida looks like it is being swallowed up by the land on which it was built by the architect William Morgan during the 1960s. An aberration at the time, but today an example to follow. Designed by the architect Edouard François, the holiday guesthouses of Jupilles in the Sarthe also blend in with the landscape, but in this case the landscape is a forest. As for the wise Renzo Piano, he has imagined a discrete architecture for a monumental building, one of the oldest museums in the United States, the California Academy of Sciences.
