Great Continental Railway Journeys: Amsterdam to Northern France

SINOPSE

Michael Portillo uses his 1913 copy of Bradshaw's Continental Railway Guide to explore Holland, Belgium and France. He begins by experiencing the dazzling cities of the pre-war Low Countries and tasting the delicacies of Brussels, before travelling to the French sector of the Western Front.
On the second part of his journey from Holland to France, Michael Portillo visits the French sector of the Western Front, and concludes his trip in the forest of Compiegne, northern France, where he learns that the First World War armistice was signed in a railway carriage.
