How groups including Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers Band helped popularise a style of rock music rooted in the culture of America's Deep South during the 1970s. The programme explores how the genre had an impact beyond the world of music, shaping the cultural identity of some of America's most deprived and marginalised regions.
