Clouds of Chernobyl

SINOPSE

The effects of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster were quickly felt in Europe. In Romania, the desperate measures taken by the communist regime affected several women from northern Bukovina – due to radiation, women are forced to have abortions by improvised methods (under indirect pressure from the party). Irina, a teacher in the village where she lives, mother of two children, wife of a ship's captain, is under family pressure and has to make a terrible decision. Will she choose to give up or will she take on any consequences? A few years later, the communist regime in Romania collapses, the sense of freedom is not clear, and Irina's decision is harshly criticized by children. What is freedom? It becomes the question that we all have. Freedom remains the only option!
