An armed gang kidnaps a telephone engineer and uses his expertise to remotely trigger break-in alarms in various banks. While police are diverted to the affected premises, the crooks target other banks. Regan is offended when a telecommunications expert from Bristol CID is drafted in to assist him and Carter with the investigation. Police drama, starring John Thaw and Dennis Waterman.
