During the presidential campaign, Joe enlisted the support of Chicago's mob king Sam Giancana and somehow let mediating singer Frank Sinatra promise their administration would go easy on organized crime. Since Bobby supports the FBI program to fight at instead, it's war. Evidence of Joe's mob-contacts finally causes him to step back from the White House completely to avoid a scandal. The Kennedy's don't fall for the lousy military advice to risk a war for the Berlin Wall, rather making it into the hated face of communism.
